Pricing & Packages
How much does a website cost?
Tier 1 (Starter website) is a four-page site — Home, About, Contact, and Blog — with 3 starter blog posts included (one per service, up to 3), starting at $450 setup then $25/month hosting. The Top Tier (complete multi-page website + Google + Facebook + SEO) starts at $800 setup then $150/month hosting. Social media posting ($350/month) and blog writing ($100/month) are agreed upfront if added. Every tier is fully itemized on our Pricing page. No hidden fees.
What's included in the monthly hosting fee?
Every tier includes a $25/month hosting fee (Top Tier is $150/month) after the one-time setup. This covers your site being live, maintained, and monitored. Monthly clients also get ongoing support and site updates included. The one-time setup fee covers the design and build — the monthly fee keeps everything running. No hidden third-party bills — we bundle hosting into a single monthly rate.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Our pricing page shows exactly what's included at each tier. The only additional costs are third-party services you control directly: domain registration, web hosting, and any platform-specific fees (like payment processing if you add e-commerce). We document everything at project start.
Do you offer discounts for nonprofits or small farms?
We evaluate discounts on a case-by-case basis. Call us and tell us about your situation — we genuinely want to make local digital presence accessible to everyone in Central Kansas, and we're willing to find a price point that makes sense.
Ownership & Control
Do I own my website after it's built?
Yes, 100%. Your domain, your hosting account, your website files, your Google listing, your Facebook page — all of it is yours and stays yours forever, regardless of whether you continue working with us. We never hold assets hostage and we never require ownership of anything to provide our services.
What happens to my accounts if I cancel?
Nothing bad happens. If you cancel, we remove ourselves as managers or admins from your Google Business Profile, Facebook Business Page, and any other accounts we were added to — within 48 hours. Your accounts stay intact. You keep everything we built. If you have a hosted website, you receive all your files within 7 days and hosting continues for 30 days after your final payment.
Will you add yourself as the owner of my Google or Facebook accounts?
Never. We are added as Manager (Google) or Admin (Facebook) only. You always remain the Owner. This means if we ever go out of business, you get hit by a bus, or you just decide you don't want to work with us anymore — your accounts are still completely under your control.
What if I want to move my website to a different host?
No problem. We'll give you all the files. You take them wherever you want. We don't use proprietary systems that lock you to our hosting. Your website is plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files — they run anywhere.
What happens to my website if I cancel?
Your website files are yours — we'll send you a complete copy within 7 days of cancellation. Your domain can be transferred to your own account on request. The website will go offline 30 days after your final payment since hosting is included in your monthly plan. Your Facebook page and Google Business Profile are not affected by cancellation — those stay with you no matter what.
Who owns my Facebook page and Google listing?
You do — completely and permanently. Whether we built them or manage your existing ones, these are always yours. If you cancel, we remove our manager access within 48 hours and you keep everything with no interruption.
Who owns my domain name?
If we registered your domain on your behalf, we can transfer full ownership to your own registrar account at any time — just ask. We recommend clients eventually own their own domain directly. If you registered it yourself, you already own it fully.
Contracts & Cancellation
Is there a contract?
No long-term contracts. Monthly plans are month-to-month. If you want to cancel, give us 30 days notice and we'll wrap up your month, remove ourselves from your accounts, and hand everything over cleanly. We want clients who stay because they're happy, not because they're locked in.
What if I'm not happy with the work?
We do revisions until you're satisfied before launch. After launch, if there's something we got wrong or missed, we fix it. If you're genuinely unhappy with a one-time build, we'll discuss refund options based on how far through the project we are. Monthly clients can cancel with 30 days notice, no questions asked.
What happens if I miss a monthly payment?
We'll reach out first. We're local and we're human — things happen. If there's a billing issue, we'll work with you. We're not going to quietly pull your website down or delete anything without a clear conversation and fair notice first.
Build Process & Timeline
How long does the build take?
Tier 1 — Starter (website): 5–7 business days from intake form completion. Top Tier (full multi-page site + Google + Facebook + SEO): 10–14 business days. Custom web apps vary by scope — we'll give a specific timeline in your project proposal. All timelines start after you've completed the intake form, not after the first call.
Do I need to do anything during the build?
Minimal. You fill out our intake form at the start (about 15–20 minutes). During the build, we may ask you to verify your Google Business Profile using a code they send you, or to add us as a page admin on Facebook. At the end, you review the work and approve it before anything goes live.
What if I want changes after I see the draft?
Tell us what to change. One-time builds include 1 round of revisions before launch. Monthly clients can request changes at any time — it's included in your plan. We're not going to nickel-and-dime you over a wording change or a button color.
Content, Photos & Approval
Do I have to approve content before it posts?
Yes — always. Nothing goes live without your review and approval. You receive a content calendar each month showing what's coming, and every piece goes through your client portal for sign-off before it publishes. You stay in control. We do the work.
How do I send you my project photos?
Through your client portal. Snap a photo on the job, add a short description, and submit. The system matches it to the right service, researches the right local search angle for your area, and drafts the content. You review it and approve before anything posts. Single photos, before-and-after pairs, 4-photo project walkthroughs, logo, team, and owner photos are all supported.
Can I update the photos on my website myself?
Yes. Your client portal has a Website Photos section. Upload new photos, delete old ones, save — your site updates without waiting on us. You own your images and you control when they change.
SEO & Google
Will my website show up on Google after you build it?
Every site we build is submitted to Google Search Console for indexing, includes proper meta tags and schema markup, and is optimized for local keyword relevance. Most sites start appearing in search within 1–4 weeks. Ranking competitively in the local pack takes longer and depends on your market, competition, and review count.
Do I need a Google Business Profile?
If you serve local customers, yes — absolutely. A Google Business Profile is how you show up on the map and in local search results. It's free and it's one of the most impactful things a local business can do online. We set it up and optimize it as part of the Top Tier package, or as a standalone service.
Can you guarantee #1 Google rankings?
No, and any agency that does is lying to you. What we guarantee is that we implement every current best practice for local search optimization. In many Central Kansas markets, proper optimization yields meaningful results faster than in big cities because the competition is lower. We'll give you honest expectations based on your specific market.
About KPW & Local
Why should I hire you instead of a bigger agency?
Because I'll answer the phone when you call. Bigger agencies route you to account managers who don't know your business and have 50 other clients. We know Central Kansas, we understand what local businesses actually need, and we're accountable in a way that an out-of-state agency never will be. Our prices are fair, our work is solid, and we don't disappear after you pay.
Where are you located?
Salina, Kansas. We serve clients primarily in Central Kansas — Salina, McPherson, Abilene, Bennington, Concordia, Junction City, and Manhattan — and statewide. We work remotely for most projects, but we're local and in-person meetings can be arranged for Central Kansas clients.
What types of businesses do you work with?
Any Kansas small business that needs a better online presence. We've worked with trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping), food businesses (restaurants, bakeries, food trucks), retail, professional services, agriculture-related businesses, and more. If you have customers in Central Kansas and you're not showing up online, we can help.
Do you serve small towns outside of Salina?
Yes. Kansas Prairie Webworks serves small businesses across all of Central Kansas — Salina, Abilene, McPherson, Ellsworth, Lindsborg, Concordia, Beloit, Junction City, Manhattan, Wilson, and everywhere in between. Most of the work happens remotely, and we're local enough to meet in person when it matters. Distance is not a barrier.
Maintenance & Support
What's included in the monthly maintenance plan?
Monthly maintenance plans (available at all tiers) include: site updates (hours, phone, staff, services), security monitoring, uptime monitoring, hosting coordination, and direct support via phone and text. Top Tier maintenance includes all of that plus monthly reporting on your Google listing performance.
How do I request a change to my website?
Call, text, or email us. We don't have a ticket system or an email queue. Just contact us directly and tell us what you need. Monthly clients get changes included. One-time clients can request changes at $75/hour with a 30-minute minimum. Most small updates take less than 30 minutes.
What if my website goes down?
If you're on a monthly plan, we monitor uptime and will act quickly. If you're on a one-time plan and your site goes down, call or text us — we'll help diagnose whether it's a hosting issue, a domain expiration, or something else, and tell you how to fix it. We don't abandon clients after project completion.
